West Platte Hires New Special Education Teacher

Weston, MO - June 17, 2019 Bailey Portman Rush comes to West Platte from a successful teaching background. She began her teaching career in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she taught Special Education for eleven years. Before teaching she was a Juvenile Officer at Buchanan County Academy and a Children’s Social Worker for Family Guidance Center.

Bailey is from St. Joseph, Missouri and attended the Savannah School District. She graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, with an emphasis in Juvenile Delinquency. She then received her Alternative Certification in Special Education from Northwest Missouri State University. Soon after, she earned her Master of Science Degree in Special Education, also from Northwest Missouri State University.

Bailey is married to Derek Rush. Together they have four children, Conlyn 20, Sloane 16, Colton 15, and Rowan 15. They enjoy traveling, attending sporting events, and outdoor activities.

When asked about the opportunity to serve the West Platte School District, Bailey stated that she is very excited. “I graciously accept this opportunity and I am beyond thrilled to begin this new chapter with the West Platte team. Everyone I have met already has been welcoming and supportive. I look forward to getting to know the students, parents, staff, and the community of West Platte.”
