West Platte Selects New Kindergarten Teacher

Weston, MO, April 26, 2019 The West Platte School District Board of Education has selected Amanda Mounce as the next Kindergarten teacher.

Amanda comes to West Platte from East Lynne #40 School District in East Lynne, Missouri. She began her teaching career in Archie, Missouri where she worked as a paraprofessional. While at Archie, she taught herself Braille and worked toward her teaching certification. After completion of her teaching certification, she took a job with East Lynne #40 School District as a K-8 Physical Education teacher for two years. She then moved into the classroom as a kindergarten teacher. While at East Lynne, she coached Jr. High Basketball for a year and Jr. High Cheerleading for a year.

Amanda is originally from Meadville, Missouri, but currently resides in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She and her husband, Dustin, have two boys, Maclin (2 years) and Asher (2 months). They have been active members of the Pleasant Hill community where they currently reside. They will be moving to Weston over the summer to join our community.

Amanda graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science. She later pursued her teaching certification with a desire to work with children. Amanda was a member of the University of Central Missouri cheerleading squad.

When asked about the opportunity to be a kindergarten teacher at West Platte Elementary School, Amanda was ecstatic. “I am honored to accept this opportunity and I am beyond thrilled to join the West Platte community. I am excited to join a tight knit staff who works together to meet the needs of each student. I look forward to growing as a professional in the district. My goal is to reach each child I come in contact with to help them grow as individuals and intellectually.”
