Sixth Grade Students Create VR Stories

Elementary BannerFor one of the final writing projects in the sixth grade, students in Mr. McMahon's ELA classes combined writing a children's story with the experience of the virtual reality glasses. "Understanding your audience requires the writer to make specific changes to his/her writing. In this case, we were creating elements that would fit for five to seven-year-olds. Along with this, students had to vote on a VR location to base his/her individual story around. This created some challenges for us that allowed us to grow as writers. Although I wanted us to strengthen our writing skills, more importantly, I just wanted us to see the impact and role we play in the kids younger than us. The kids did a great job and I'm proud," said Mr. McMahon.
