West Platte Defeats North Platte Despite Allowing 5-Run Inning
North Platte scored five runs in the first inning, but West Platte still won 16-6 on Wednesday.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as West Platte collected nine hits and North Platte three. North Platte captured the lead in the first inning after a walk with the bases loaded scored a run, then a grand slam.
West Platte took the lead for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second McNair doubled, driving in one run, Summers singled, driving in one run, and there was an error, scoring two runs.
West Platte scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Eagen, a double by Carson, a error, and a single by McNair. Davis earned the win for West Platte. He pitched six innings, allowing two runs, two hits, and striking out three. McNair and Eagen both had two hits to lead West Platte. West Platte tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Eagen led the way with four.
