Welcome to Kindergarten!
- 18 November 2013
In Mrs. Cogan's class today, students work in teams to practice their math and writing skills. At one station student teams would chose a picture that represents a sentence strand and write the sentence on the paper. Another group worked together to build a sentence from word cards and then they practiced writing the sentence. Two other stations had shape studies. Student teams sat next to each other and took turns choosing a real life object, sharing to their partner the name of the 3D shape and then placing it on the example card. The other team matched 2-D shapes to real-life objects in the same manner. Team four had to assist each other with writing their numbers to 100. Team five used a puzzle game to match objects to the numbers. Each team spent ten minutes at a work station. Building collaborative learning skills in Kindergarten, helps students recognize they can work together to accomplish project goals.
